USPA MEMBER SERIOUSLY INJURED

Aviation Specialist Seriously Injured in Motorcycle Accident
by Jim Collom, President, Holley Mountain Chapter, USPA

Clinton AR -- I am sorry to report that late in May, Tim Posey, long-time airframe parts specialist with Arkansas Airframe of Clinton, Arkansas, while on his way home from a Christian motorcycling group meeting in Conway, Arkansas, late at night on his BIG Honda VTX-1800 motorcycle, had an accident with a couple of deer, only minutes from home.

At the time of this writing he is still in Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock (LIT), Arkansas.

He has undergone surgery to his left ankle and had over a liter of fluid drained from his left lung. He stayed a few days on a ventilator to assist his breathing, but is now back to breathing on his own.

Tim spent over 14 years with us at Arkansas Airframe Inc. We saw him start as the young shy boy that was hired to pull parts and, in a rather short period of years, watched him grow into a man that ran our complete parts division.

Tim graduated from Shirley Arkansas High School and continues to reside in his hometown. He tried college for a while, but soon discovered that aviation was his ONLY interest. He started flight training while in college and later earned his private pilot’s license locally, at the Clinton Airport, where he continues providing airframe parts specialty services for Dawson Aircraft.

When we sold the parts division of Arkansas Airframe Inc. to Will Dawson, owner of Dawson Aircraft Inc., in February 2003, Tim was given the option to stay with us, managing the Holley Mountain Airpark office. However, Tim knew his calling. His heart was in airframe parts sales, loving to deal and talk aviation with aviation people. His choice was clear; he became a full time employee of Dawson.

Tim has not only been a model as to what a dedicated employee should be, but he is one of the most honest, friendliest & kind persons you will ever have the opportunity to meet. When we took on new projects, such as Holleyfest and the USPA AR01 chapter, he would dedicate, on his own time, many hours of extra work just to make sure it was the best it could be. I remember seeing lights on in the office late one night and stopping in and finding him printing out graphics for signs that he thought would help the people that visited Holleyfest that year.

Tim is now, as a result of the accident, complications and surgery, dealing with the hallucination monsters of morphine and other pain medicines. Tim has never been in this condition or for that fact he has never been hurt in anyway before now.

Hospital care has depleted Tim’s medical insurance, so his friends and aviation buddies have set up a special assistance account for donations to help this guy that has so much helped so many for so long with our mutual love in aviation. Tim is a great guy and deserves our support. Hope you see fit to join us in assisting. Donations can be mailed to: Timothy Posey Special Medical Fund, c/o First Service Bank, Attn: Kelly Bradford, P.O. Box 1589, Clinton, AR 72031.

For more information, contact Jim Collom, 501-745-8700 and/or Will Dawson, 501-745-5300.
