As we understand it, the FAA has a year to prepare for issuing new pilot certificates which will include your photo, will be tamper-resistant and counterfeit-resistant, and may store biometric information.
It’s likely you won’t get the new license until you get a new rating or certificate. And, hopefully, the photo equipment will be located at your medical examiner’s office so that you won’t have to travel to your nearest FSDO.
