This Saturday, 10 November at the Gallup airport (GUP), NMPA will present a FAASTeam Safety Seminar from 10 am to noon. The seminar will be followed by a free noon pizza meal at the seminar.
The two topics will be, "Pilot Decision-Making or Why Smart People Do Dumb Things" and "The Latest in FAA Technology That Will Impact Pilots". The presenter will be Ron Keller, a FAASTeam Representative. You may contact him at 505 856 4940 or at radarpapa182@yahoo.com.
This safety seminar will count for either the old FAA WINGS Pilot Proficiency Program or the new FAASTeam WINGS program, your choice. The old WINGS program will cease on 31 December this year. If you want credit for the new FAASTeam WINGS program you must be registered on www.faasafety.gov and also have registered on the SPANS portion of www.faasafety.gov for this seminar.
This will be the last safety seminar that NMPA will present in 2007. The next seminar will be at the Deming airport (DMN) on Saturday 12 January 2008 from 10 am to noon and the topic will be Survivability. It will focus on what area pilots should have in their planes to survive a crash in the wilds, until rescued, and how to use their survival equipment. There will be examples of survival equipment some of us carry in our planes. The presenter will be Bob Worthington, a FAASTeam Representative, a former US Army Escape and Evasion Instructor and former Survival Instructor for the Civil Air Patrol. He can be contacted at 575 522 6785 or rworthin@zianet.com. After the safety seminar there will be a free Hamburg cookout.
